Development of public transport ticketing system procurement strategy and business case

Strateum was engaged by Metro Tasmania, the government-owned bus operator in Tasmania, to develop a strategy to procure a ticketing system to replace the legacy Green card system that had been in place since 2009. Cormeum worked with internal stakeholders, the Metro senior leadership team, the Metro Tasmania board of directors, and the Tasmanian government to determine the most appropriate path to procuring and implementing a new ticketing system.

Ultimately it was decided that the new system should be deployed state-wide across all Tasmanian bus and ferry operators in order to provide a seamless experience for customers, irrespective of where they travelled or lived in the state. As a result, the project was transferred to the Department of StateGrowth, the government department responsible for public transport provision in Tasmania.
